We invite expressions of interest from writers, photographers, critics and thinkers interested in engaging with one or more of the briefs below. To apply, please complete the Expression of Interest (EOI) form, indicating which brief(s) you wish to respond to and if you have any specific ideas or approaches to the brief.

Theatre: We are seeking contributors to develop a multi-stranded feature examining ESEA theatre in the UK. This piece will encompass interviews with leading creatives, a reflection on the history and development of ESEA theatre, and cultural analysis of key moments and breakthroughs.

Film & Music: We are commissioning contributors to conduct in-depth interviews with ESEA film and music talent, with access facilitated by our editorial team. These features should offer comprehensive and insightful explorations of each artist’s body of work and creative practice.

Literature: 2025 has been a remarkable year for UK ESEA non-fiction. We welcome contributions that engage with the work published this year - to explore their commentary and insights, celebrate their voices and consider how they reflect and challenge contemporary society and diasporic experience.

Sport: We invite contributors for a feature exploring significant moments in ESEA sporting history, celebrating achievements, uncovering overlooked narratives, and reflecting on the cultural contexts surrounding them.

Climate Crisis: We welcome contributors interested in investigating ESEA perspectives at the intersection of the climate emergency, exploring themes of community impact, activism, and creative response.

Palestine: We invite contributions that examine ESEA perspectives and solidarities in relation to the Israel–Palestine conflict, considering how identity, history, and artistic expression have intersected within this complex and urgent global issue in 2025.
