The Team

MilkTea was founded by Chi Thai & Vicki Liu Brown.

Chi is a British Vietnamese independent filmmaker & producer who works across features, documentary, animation & immersive. She has been a Cannes Lions finalist three times & a Screen Star of Tomorrow. Her BFI Vision awarded production company, Last Conker aims to tell stories that make our world greener & fairer. She has background in diversity & inclusion; & has produced several programs that to support the BESEA community. In 2021, she co-authored with Delphine Lievens, The Exclusion Act, published in Representology, the journal for media & diversity in collaboration with University of Birmingham & the Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity. Her latest film, Raging Grace (by Paris Zarcilla) premiered at SXSW in 2023 & was awarded the festival’s highest honours: Grand Jury Prizes for Best Film in Competition & Best Debut.

Vicki comes from a British Hong Kong background and is a film executive with over 17 years experience. She currently holds the position of Sales & Distribution Senior Executive at the BFI. Previously, she was Head of Acquisitions, Sales & Distribution at Together Films & worked at Altitude Film Entertainment where she represented diverse & critically acclaimed titles such as Rocks, Ali & Ava, The Princess & Calm With Horses. Prior to Altitude, Vicki worked at the BFI London Film Festival & Focus Features. At the latter, Vicki handled sales on numerous international titles from directors including Gus van Sant, Wes Anderson & The Wachowskis. Vicki is also the co-host & co-producer of the podcast Roll Credits.

With us currently is Cynthia Gu, an Asian-American transplant who has been living in the UK since 2019 & works as a full-time as a data analyst in the retail space. Outside her day job, she has done some styling & sculptural work. Prior to her move to the UK, she completed her undergraduate degree in Applied Maths at Harvard University, where she also designed for multiple fashion & theatre shows at Harvard and MIT. 

Also with us is Maylis Colin, who comes from a Korean-American and French background & has been based in the UK since 2017. Since completing her undergraduate degree in Ancient History at UCL, Maylis has been working in the Advertising & Partnerships space within theatrical film distribution. Beyond work, she designs & produces digital portraits, is an avid fan of animation, & is currently pursuing a license in tattooing.
